Items Not To Bring (Contraband)

Sundance Hospital’s contraband policy defines the following items as contraband. As such, these items are NOT permitted. Please note that this is NOT an all-inclusive listing.

  • Plastic bags and Cellophane (of any type)
  • Drugs (prescription, OTC, herbal or street)
  • Alcohol
  • Products that contain alcohol (mouthwash, cologne, hand sanitizer, shampoo etc.)
  • Makeup/Cosmetics
  • Aerosol products (body spray, hair spray, deodorant, etc.)
  • Personal combs or brushes made of metal or containing sharp points
  • Volatile solvents (fingernail polish etc.)
  • Belts, Scarves, Shoe laces, Drawstrings or any other items that could be used as a ligature
  • Electronic Devices (cell phones, electric razors, electric toothbrushes radios, DVD players, MP3 Players, computers, cameras etc.)
  • Items with a cord (hairdryers, chargers for electronic devices etc.)
  • Glass (of any kind)

  • Sharp objects (scissors, nail files, tin cans, needles, tweezers, razors, picture frames, tacks, pins, paper clips, hair pins, hair barrettes etc.)
  • Gum and Candy
  • Toys and Games
  • Stuffed animals
  • Linens of any kind (pillows, blankets etc.)
  • Clothes hangers
  • Pens, Pencils, Makers
  • Spiral bound notebooks
  • Hardcover books
  • Flowers and Balloons
  • Piercings and Spacers (per staff discretion)
  • E-Cigarettes
  • Kerlix and long gauze

  • Electric Pencil Sharpener (in patient areas)
  • Knives (of any kind)
  • Spiked wristbands or belts
  • Jewelry (Per staff discretion)
  • Provocative clothing (mid drifts, shorts/dresses/skirts shorter than mid-thigh, leggings, tank tops, hats/caps, clothing with offensive or violent content).
  • Tampons
  • Food or beverages brought in from outside the hospital
  • Mirrors
  • Tobacco Products (Adult patients may store cigarettes in designated areas)
  • Cigarette Lighters and matches
